What type of Vendor Permit do you need to Sell Edible Goods in SA?

if you sell anything edible in addition to a trading permit, you will also need a certificate of acceptance permit (COA) from the municipality where you intend to trade. For instance if you have a stall in Johannesburg and Cape Town, you will need two trading permits as they fall under different municipalities.

How Long Does this Permit Last?

You must renew vendor permits annually.

What You need to Apply for a Vendor Permit ?

  • Certified copy of your ID or passport.
  • Proof of residence (municipal bill or letter)
  • Complete Trading application Forms at the municipal office.{To Avoid Fraud}
  • Some markets will also require you to register directly with them — especially the big ones since they often have their own trader rules, so always check in with the market organizer too.

Usually. You will receive a first time notice or warning. On a second offense, you will receive a fine of between R300-R1000, whilst your goods may be confiscated on a third offense.
