How Much Are Stall Fees in 2025

Stall fees are often the determining factor in deciding where to set up a market stall.

Stall fees are generally based on several factors that include:

  • How established the market is. Established events and markets tend to attract greater feet and regular patrons.Location of the market or event influences pricing. Generally, the more affluent areas tend to have higher stall fees.

Feet count. Established markets and events may attract regular patrons and attract bigger crowds.

Facilities. Some markets offer live entertainment, lock up and go or undercover facilities, electricity and safe and sufficient parking space – whereas other markets may be lesser known with poorer facilities.

The product one is selling. Food being generally more expensive

Type of event or market.  Generally specialized events and markets are higher priced with car boot markets being the most affordable.

As at the time of publishing – January 2025, the average price for car boot markets range from R80-R120 per market day.

The average stall fee being R200- R300 with higher end fees ranging from R450-R650 per market day.  Stalls between R100-R200 can be found usually in more country, inner city or less established markets.

Good morning why do market managers assume that food vendor make lots of money as they tend to charge way higher stall fees, compared to craft. Most food vendor make the stuff whereas crafter generally buy, very few make year
